Hours: Full-time role with good working conditions and a Group Personal Pension Scheme (GPPS).

About Us:

D2M Innovation is a well-regarded product design consultancy with specific expertise in developing technical solutions where intellectual property is a key requirement. Our talented, forward-thinking design team combines significant expertise with knowledge of the complete product development cycle to develop new concepts from initial idea to production. Over the last 14 years, the team has created a wide range of market-leading products including wheeled goods, protective equipment, sports and leisure equipment, juvenile products and handheld electronic devices. We have in-house prototyping facilities and a dedicated, highly skilled team that helps ensure a positive working environment.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a senior product designer who is self-directed, with initiative and a solid appreciation of how an agency works. We don’t use account handlers - that means you’ll manage your own clients. If you thrive on creating innovative, functional solutions that actually work for clients, you’ll fit right in. Cheltenham studio-based is non-negotiable. We do genuine innovation, and there’s simply no substitute for face-to-face collaboration when it comes to making things happen efficiently.

If you’re a pro at transforming sketches into market-ready products, love seeing your ideas take shape in the real world, and can keep projects moving smoothly, you might be just the person we’re looking for! You’ll lead the way on concept-to-market projects, working with clients ranging from ambitious start-ups to established small businesses. You’ll be hands-on with concept generation, CAD development, prototyping, manufacturing specs, and production oversight.

The job will involve multiple projects running concurrently, and you’ll have responsibility for the direction of projects from day 1, with tight deadlines, so strong project management and excellent communication skills are key.

You need to be technical. Our clients come to us because we bring their ideas to life in practical, working form - this isn’t just about aesthetics.

Finally, we’re a small team so you’ll also need to be a good fit.

Core Skills:

  • Technical and commercial product design expertise.
  • Degree in Industrial/Product Design (BSc preferred).
  • 10+ years of product design experience (minimum 4 years in an agency setting).
  • Proactive and independent under pressure.
  • Excellent Solidworks CAD skills.
  • Deep knowledge of production processes (injection molding, die casting, extrusion, metal fabrication).

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with basic electronic prototypes (Arduino-based).
  • Eye for beautiful aesthetic design and excellent styling ability.

Application Details:

If this sounds like you, please get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you.

Closing date: 10th Jan 2025

Note: Candidates need to have a valid UK work permit and must meet the experience criteria.
