We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Transport Manager at a leading specialist in home-to-school transport. As the Transport Manager, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations, overseeing a dedicated team of approximately 65 part-time drivers and passenger assistants. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the service operates safely, compliantly, and with the highest levels of care. You will also focus on maintaining exceptional service standards, creating a caring and supportive environment for both staff and passengers, while ensuring smooth, efficient transport operations for our users.We are looking to invite applications who ideally have previous transport operational experience or a strong level of management experience in the care sectorAs the transport manager you will be:

Qualifications and Experience
  • Applicants should ideally have previous transport operational experience or a strong level of management experience in the care sector.
  • Previous experience of supervising or managing staff is essential, as is the ability to successfully lead and manage a team
  • Good IT skills are desirable, and the ability to demonstrate a high level of organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring our school transport operation complies with all of the operational and service requirements of our customers and provides a safe, reliable and cost-effective service.
  • Ensuring that our school transport operation is compliant with our vehicle licensing conditions – both with our Local authority and the DVSA.
  • Ensuring our staff are well trained, well-motivated and well supported
  • Resolving any passenger or route issues with a caring approach
  • Resourcing our home to school schedule with the required drivers and passengers’ assistants, which is largely fixed for a school year, but does require daily resource management to cover any absence and sickness
  • The recruitment of new staff as and when required, and the performance management all existing team members
  • Developing positive relationships with all key stakeholders, including Local Authorities, schools and parents.
  • This role will provide management cover (holidays and sickness) for our Vehicle Services Operation, which includes our garage business and vehicle rental operation
