Overview:This is a dynamic, innovative company that prides itself on pushing the boundaries of technology and engineering excellence. They design and manufacture market-leading products making use of the latest technologies that form part of the transport infrastructure.They are now seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join their team with accountability for driving excellence through design-for-manufacture (DFM) initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the DFM team which is responsible for delivering a variety of test fixtures, production aids and providing manufacturing related support to both development and production teams.
  • Own accountability from the inception of new product development through the entire production lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the delivery of scheduled product health checks designed to identify and address any issues that may affect the manufacturability of the product such as parts obsolescence.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product manufacturability and production efficiencies.
  • Produce guidance to product development teams to help ensure new products can be produced efficiently for example by designing for the use of a Cobot.

Person Specification

  • HNC / HND / Degree in engineering or a related subject or equivalent working experience.
  • Experience in managing engineering teams and associated activities through the complete engineering lifecycle.
  • A background in design and / or the manufacture of electronic or electro-mechanical products with a number of years spent working within this environment.
  • A strong knowledge of DFM principles, process optimisation and quality control.
  • Experience in the delivery of lean manufacturing.
