Mechanical Fitter Position Overview

My client based just outside Winchcombe in North Gloucestershire specialise in the design, build and installation of bespoke control systems, factory automation systems and machinery, vision inspection, plastic container handling and robotics.

They are looking to appoint a mechanical fitter/installer. In this role, you will be bringing customers' automation aspirations to life, working across a variety of industry sectors (predominantly in food

and beverage and plastic container handling) and working on some truly ground-breaking projects.

A lot of what we they is typically bespoke to their customers and to date there's not been an automation challenge they've not been able to support or that they have walked away from.

Reporting to the production manager, you will be joining their 'pool' team and therefore required to work both building in-house and installing on site, responsible for general mechanical fitting and assembly of automation machinery and sub-assemblies (think giant Meccano), working from engineering drawings and ensuring all projects are delivered to the highest possible standards and in a timely fashion.

You'll work on single machine builds through to complete automation lines*, seeing projects through from build in their workshops through to dismantling and then assembly on the customer's site. They have customers across the UK and Ireland, Canada, and USA. It is rare that you will be expected to stay over a weekend, but this can happen occasionally, especially on overseas projects. You are paid travel time, overtime (as applicable) and expenses while you're away.

* Bonus skill but not essential - Being capable of installing control panels and making basic wiring adjustments
