The School
An alternative provision that caters for students that are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream education. Staff are dedicated to ensuring pupils leave education with a plan for their future. The bespoke curriculum allows for pupils to develop socially/emotionally as well as academically.
The Role
A long-term role which is likely to become permanent for the right candidate. You will teach a class of 6-8 pupils. All pupils have self-regulations challenges, and many have experienced trauma in their younger years. A significant part of the role is offering pastoral support and teaching life skills, in addition to academic education.

Main responsibilities
- Lesson planning and marking
- Evaluate and adapt lessons according to individual needs
- Act on advice from ECT mentors
- Prepare learning resources
- Deploy teaching assistants effectively
- Write progress reports
- Feedback to senior leaders and parents/carers
- Follow the guidance of external professionals
Essential Criteria
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- Experience working with students SEMH needs
- Understanding of SEND Code of Practice
- Skills: Patience; Resilience; Flexibility
Desirable Criteria
- SEND/Mental Health qualification(s)
