The RoleWe are seeking a passionate and resilient Maths Teacher to work part-time. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that inspire students to build their confidence and achieve academic success in maths. This role requires strong behaviour management skills, empathy, and a commitment to helping students overcome barriers to learning. Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging maths lessons tailored to the needs of Key Stage 4 students with SEMH needs.
  • Differentiate teaching to accommodate a range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and senior staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support each student's educational and emotional needs.
  • Contribute to the development of individual education plans and behaviour support plans.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching maths as a secondary age level.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and experience working with SEMH needs.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching to meet individual needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in a specialist provision or PRU.
  • Training in trauma-informed practices.
  • Experience developing IEPs or behaviour support plans.

Vetting: Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all the staff we employ to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undergo checks including reference checks and TRA checks. Applicants who do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, will need to process a new one at a cost of £62.70.
