Your new company
We are recruiting for a well-known organisation who specialises in finding suitable accommodation for vulnerable and at-risk individuals, focusing on people experiencing homelessness, who may also have mental health issues or drug/alcohol dependencies. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join the Gloucestershire Homeless Outreach Team. You will be working alongside an experienced team member, so you won't be alone in the field. The main office is conveniently located in Gloucester, just across the road from the train station, making it easily accessible.


Your new role
As an Outreach Worker, you will play a crucial role in delivering specialist outreach support to adults with a history of rough sleeping across both rural and urban areas of Gloucestershire, including Gloucester and Cheltenham.
Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery:
- Identify and build relationships with individuals who are rough sleeping.
- Conduct Needs & Risk Assessments to secure access to suitable services.
- Undertake outreach sessions, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
- Make appropriate referrals to help clients establish a sustainable life away from the streets.
- Maintain accurate and updated client records.

Client Involvement:
- Support clients in contributing to the development of new services.
- Engage clients in consultation events within the organisation and the wider community.

Teamwork:
- Participate in outreach with various homelessness agencies.
- Attend team meetings to share and receive information about rough sleepers.

Other Duties:
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Health legislation.
- Engage in supervision and annual appraisals to set performance targets and training needs.

What you'll need to succeed
You should possess empathy and understanding of the needs of the clients, along with a commitment to equality of opportunity. Ideally, you will have a Health or Social Care qualification, although this is not essential. You should have good knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, emails, and basic spreadsheets. An understanding of the causes of homelessness and social exclusion, as well as approaches to address and prevent rough sleeping, is crucial. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with the ability to undertake Needs Assessment and Planning for people with complex social needs.
