Long - Term teachers have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teaching assistant, with a genuine interest to work with students with special educational needs. Commencing in September 2024, the school is seeking a full time applicant to work Monday to Friday, term time only, between the hours of 8:30am - 3:30pm. They are welcoming part time applicants, who can work a minimum of 3 days a week.

The school supports students in Key Stage 2, 3 and 4. All of the students have Education Health and Care Plans and are placed with us through their local authority SEND departments. The predominant need of the students is Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs, they work with students who have encountered challenges in mainstream settings. Their goal is to help students enjoy learning again, through a therapeutic approach.

Key Duties:

  • Offer 1:1 support
  • Deliver pre - planned lessons, with enthusiasm, these have been created by senior leadership, that will cater to students individual needs
  • Bring a patient, caring attitude to the environment
  • Monitor students on break times

Essential

  • Skills to work appropriately and effectively with individual students
  • Able to promote their social and emotional development
  • Able to respond calmly and effectively to display behaviours

Desirable

  • Experience of working with young people with special educational needs and disability
  • Good working knowledge of Safeguarding and Health and Safety
  • Experience or Knowledge of National Curriculum subjects
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification or willingness to gain one (training available)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
