The position being recruited is for an Operations Coordinator - Haulage. You will be responsible for the efficient planning, coordination, and management of haulage operations. This role ensures that deliveries are scheduled effectively, vehicles are fully utilised, and all transport activities comply with UK regulations.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, experience in haulage logistics, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:1. Haulage Coordination & Planning:
- Plan and allocate loads to maximise vehicle efficiency and minimise empty mileage.
- Schedule and route HGVs to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Liaise with customers and drivers to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor live transport operations, resolving issues such as delays and breakdowns.
2. Communication & Customer Service:
- Act as the primary contact for customers regarding delivery schedules and queries.
- Provide drivers with accurate job details and respond to issues in real time.
- Work closely with subcontractors, depots, and supply chain partners.
- Available to be on call 1 week in 3 on a rotational basis for ad hoc out of hours queries.
3. Administration & Reporting:
- Process delivery paperwork and invoices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in haulage coordination, logistics, or transport planning.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced transport environment.
- Proficiency in transport management systems, route planning software, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for liaising with customers, drivers, and suppliers.
- Excellent customer service skills
Desirable:
- Experience with HGV tracking and telematics systems.
- Understanding of load planning, weight distribution, and vehicle types.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Full-time role, Monday to Friday. 8am to 6pm.
- Available to be on call 1 week in 3 on a rotational basis for ad hoc out of hours queries.
- Office-based with potential site visits and driver interactions.
- Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and quick decision-making.

- Salary: £30-£35K plus bonus (up to £4k based on company performance)
