We are seeking an Apprentice Engineer to join a leading and highly adaptable engineering company. This is a 4-year apprenticeship opportunity that provides hands-on experience in engineering while working towards an Engineering Manufacturing Technician qualification through a validated training provider. The successful candidate will be exposed to a range of engineering processes, working alongside experienced engineers in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project teams, assisting with mechanical aspects of products and systems throughout their development stages.
  • Conduct testing and compliance, advising and carrying out testing procedures to ensure products meets company Standards.
  • Collaborate with quality and production, helping to ensure all components meet the design intent and are manufactured to specification.
  • Support off-site engineers, Providing troubleshooting, problem-solving, and integration testing assistance for products and systems.
  • Maintain traceability, ensuring all data generated and design decisions follow best practices for traceability and compliance.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations, Complying with all relevant health and safety standards and procedures during the execution of tasks.

What You’ll Need:

  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate a good level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3D Design Software Competency: A basic understanding of 3D design software (Inventor preferred, but not essential).
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to challenging deadlines in a small team environment.
  • Practical Problem-Solving Skills: A passion for hands-on problem-solving and designing user interface functionality.
  • Self-Motivation: Strong drive to learn and improve work practices, with an interest in emerging technologies and materials.
  • Traceability and Process Awareness: Understanding the importance of maintaining traceability and adhering to best practices in engineering processes.
  • 2D/3D Drawing Competency: A basic understanding of how to create 2D drawings and modifiable parts/assemblies to facilitate design changes.
  • Material and Manufacturing Knowledge: Awareness of common materials and manufacturing methods, and their implications on design.
  • Educational Requirements: A minimum of 32 UCAS points, including at least one A-Level at grade C in a relevant STEM subject (or equivalent AVCE, National Diploma, or certificate).
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English, written and spoken (minimum B2 level according to CEFR).
  • CAD Software Familiarity: Previous experience or familiarity with CAD software (Inventor preferred).
  • Apprenticeship Eligibility: Must meet UK Government eligibility criteria for apprenticeship funding.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (minimum 5 years of permanent residency required).
  • Desirable Experience: Any previous exposure to an engineering environment (e.g., work experience, product design modules) is advantageous.
