Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Chessington, Surrey

Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum (DOE)

Job Type: Full-time, Shift Pattern (4 days on, 4 off, 4 nights on, 4 off)

Hours: 7:00am-7:00pm, 7:00pm-7:00am

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role at our clients Chessington site, providing engineering support across all site assets from production equipment to building services. This position involves undertaking planned preventative maintenance tasks, responding swiftly to reactive tasks and breakdowns, and maximising asset uptime to support production colleagues in delivering high-quality products and services to customers.

Day-to-day of the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer role:

  • Maintain and repair site assets, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Undertake both planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Act as the first line of advice for manufacturing equipment issues, supporting the production team with guidance and information.
  • Maintain accurate records using handheld technology to support the Computerised Maintenance Management System
  • Comply with all safety systems of work and hygiene requirements.
  • Work closely with the PPM and Controls Supervisor to ensure timely completion of planned work.
  • Support capital projects as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications of the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:

  • Electrical or Mechanical background with recognised qualifications such as City & Guilds or BTEC.
  • Experience in a FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) environment is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of engineering maintenance principles, including planned and reactive tasks.
  • Proficient in fault finding and rectification on various equipment including sealing machines, PLC controlled process equipment, and packaging equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of vacuum systems.
  • Proficient use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and handheld technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively across all levels from production to senior management.
