We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dynamic and nurturing secondary school for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in the Chessington area. The school supports students aged 9 to 19, with a range of needs including autism, severe learning difficulties, and additional complex needs. All students have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

About the Role: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support Individual Growth: Assist students across different age groups (9-19 years old) in their social, emotional, and academic development, helping them reach personal and educational goals.
  • Targeted Support: Provide one-to-one and small group interventions for students with autism, SLD, and other complex needs, adapting strategies to their unique learning styles and needs.
  • Promote an Inclusive Learning Environment: Work closely with teachers and support staff to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that fosters progress and participation.
  • Assistive and Personal Care: Offer personal care and support where necessary, ensuring all students feel safe, respected, and supported in their daily routines and learning.
  • Classroom Support: Collaborate with the teaching team to assist with lesson planning, resource preparation, maintaining records, and helping to manage classroom behaviour in line with each student's individual needs.

What We're Looking For:

  • Availability: Able to work full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, immediate start.
  • Experience: While previous experience in a school setting is a plus, we welcome candidates with any professional experience working with children in the UK.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to provide personal care if needed and to support children with SEND (Special Educational Needs).
  • Compliance: Must have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced Child-Only DBS check.
  • Location: Ideally reside in or near Chessington or have reliable transportation to commute to the area.
