A Typical Day in Your Role

Your day will involve a range of responsibilities focused on civil infrastructure and non-infrastructure design (highways, water, wastewater). You will work within multi-disciplinary project teams, performing tasks with minimal supervision. Here's what you can expect:

  • Design Responsibilities: Engage in the design of civil infrastructure, ensuring that your work aligns with client requirements and relevant design standards. Your goal will be to create solutions that are both effective and cost-efficient.
  • Data Analysis: Obtain and analyse information to report on your findings. This will help inform your design decisions and ensure that all aspects of the project are thoroughly considered.
  • Engineering Solutions: Prepare and present engineering solutions, which may include drawings, reports, and calculations. You will also produce engineering drawings and conduct site surveys to gather crucial data.
  • Supervision and Mentorship: You will be responsible for checking the work of others and supervising junior staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to foster strong relationships with clients and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: Familiarity with health, safety, and welfare regulations, such as the Construction, Design and Management Regulations, is essential to maintain a safe working environment.


About You

To thrive in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A relevant degree and ideally be pursuing additional professional qualifications. However, those with equivalent experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • A solid technical background in design.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and a good understanding of AutoCAD, to produce and to read drawings.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, producing clear and concise reports.
  • A proven track record of working well in a team environment, demonstrating a commitment to meeting project deadlines.
  • A client-focused approach to service delivery, with self-motivation and a drive for continuous improvement.
  • A strong emphasis on health and safety practices in all aspects of your work.
