Sales Ledger Controller

We are seeking a dedicated Sales Ledger Controller to join our Finance Team. This role is crucial for supporting both the Sales and occasionally the Purchase Ledger. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer accounts, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions, and maintaining effective communication with both customers and the sales team.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Produce, print, and dispatch sales invoices and customer statements.
  • Send out reminder letters weekly and handle customer enquiries efficiently, issuing credit notes when necessary.
  • Process cheques received daily, monitor BACs payments on internet banking, and input these onto the system.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and administer incoming direct debits.
  • Liaise with the sales team to maintain accurate Debtors’ Ledger records.
  • Review customer accounts regularly and monitor aged debt reports to ensure timely collection of debts.
  • Resolve overdue account queries through liaison with the relevant salesperson and, if necessary, solicitors.
  • Undertake credit checks for potential new customers to assess creditworthiness.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar role within an Accounts environment.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with accounting systems.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential due to the location of the role.
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality, error-free work.
