My client, a leading UK manufacturing business, are looking to recruit a UK Financial Controller to join their high calibre finance team in Chester.
This senior role within the organisation offers an exciting opportunity to partner with the commercial and operations team, overseeing the external audit process and acting as a review point for all significant financial outputs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, technical accounting expertise, and excellent communication skills.
What you'll do:
- Lead the finance team of 3, including accounting, costing, regulatory reporting, tax and treasury
- Ensure timely and accurate close activities and reporting
- Maintain operational effectiveness of key and operational controls
- Oversee all US corporate parent requirements for month and quarter end closes
- Manage a successful external audit process and ensure clear communication with external auditors
- Oversee all tax activities including corporation tax, VAT and applicable duties
- Manage all treasury activities including daily forecasting
- Oversee the statutory accounts process and related activities
- Maintain a strong SOX control environment
What you bring:
- ACA/ACCA qualified, Big 4 preferred
- 15+ years of finance experience, including substantial background in statutory accounting, auditing, tax and internal control
- Strong technical orientation with understanding of accounting methodology and financial analysis
- Proven leadership capabilities with ability to manage client relationships and stakeholders
- Technical accounting expertise with good understanding of both US and UK GAAP
- Ability to work effectively within a wider international team
- Excellent written and communication skills
