Welcome toThe Bear, a brand new gastropub at the heart of Tattenhall, Cheshire.The Bearwill blend the charm of a classic British pub with an elevated dining experience, offering a menu of refined la carte dishes, classic pub favourites, and simple yet delicious bar snacks. We seek apassionate, creative, and highly skilled Head Chefto lead our kitchen and bring our vision to life.

The Role

AsHead Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen, from menu development and food quality to team leadership and cost management. You will have the freedom to craft a menu that showcases seasonal, locally sourced ingredients while delivering outstanding gastropub dining.

Key Responsibilities

Menu Development & Food Quality

  • Design and execute a menu that balancesclassic pub dishes, refined la carte options, and high-quality bar snacks.
  • Work with local suppliers to sourcefresh, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients.
  • Maintain high culinary standards, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
  • Innovate and adapt the menu withseasonal specials and guest-driven trends.

Kitchen Management & Operations

  • Oversee theday-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service and efficiency.
  • Implement and maintainkitchen procedures, food safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Manage stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships to minimise waste and maximise freshness.
  • Ensurefull compliance with food safety regulations, conducting regular HACCP and risk assessments.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performingkitchen brigade.
  • Foster apositive and collaborative kitchen culturethat prioritises teamwork and growth.
  • Conducton going staff trainingin culinary techniques, food hygiene, and service efficiency.
  • Lead by example, maintaininga calm and professional demeanour under pressure.

Financial & Cost Control

  • Work withinagreed food cost and GP targets, ensuring profitability without compromising quality.
  • Implement effectiveportion control, stock management, and waste reduction strategies.
  • Assist in pricing dishes competitively while maintaining asustainable and profitable kitchen operation.

Collaboration & Guest Experience

  • Work closely with theGeneral Manager and Front of House teamto ensure a seamless dining experience.
  • Engage with guests when needed, providing insight into dishes and creating astrong connection between the kitchen and the dining room.
  • Ensure the kitchen team understands and delivers therestaurants overall vision and values.
