Role: - Microbiology Laboratory Technician Type:- Permanent Location: - Liverpool initially moving to their new site in Deeside in 12+ months Hours/Shifts: - Monday- Friday (days) Additional: - 23 holidays + BH, Attendance Bonus, Private Medical, Company Pension etc. Responsibilities• Provide technical support and assistance to laboratory scientists by setting up, performing and reading microbiology tests such as serial dilutions and colony counts, diffusion and dilution susceptibility tests using specified instrumentation and equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures.• Produce reliable and accurate records of laboratory results in the appropriate laboratory paperwork, spreadsheets and log books according to Good Documentation Practice to facilitate data analysis and interpretation by senior laboratory staff. • Recognise problems and apply appropriate methods to identify causes and effective solutions seeking advice of senior colleagues as appropriate. • Communicate scientific information appropriately, including use of laboratory information management systems either digital or paper based.• At all times, ensure that the Laboratory areas are kept clean and tidy and that adherence to laboratory cleaning schedules and hygiene standards is maintained. • Maintain supplies of consumables (pipette tips, loops, prepared culture media etc.) for day to day use. • Calibrate laboratory instrumentation at specified frequency intervals ensuring records of equipment maintenance and servicing schedules are maintained and equipment databases are updated accordingly.The Person• BSc or equivalent in a Life Science related discipline (which has included an element of Microbiology during the degree-aseptic technique, gram staining, sterility, culture media etc )• 12 months laboratory experience in an ISO9001 / 13485 / 17025/GLP environment would be preferred but Microbiology graduates will be considered. • Excellent planning & organisational skills• Excellent written & verbal communication skills • Computer literate• Driven & motivated to learn new skillsImportant Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
