Project Engineer
And right now, we're looking for a Project Engineer. As a Project Engineer you'll play a key role within a Chemical Process projects team. The role will involve managing a range of small to medium sized projects related to numerous improvement strategies linked to Net Zero, Business Objective, Reliability, Operations and Compliance. These projects have a budget range of £0.5M to £10M and the role is to provide Project Management support for a number of work packages as requested by the Project Delivery Manager.
What will your day look like?
• Manage Work Packages / Minor Projects and coordinate the design activity from conception to completion as requested by PM.
• Manage design and construction interfaces within the project, attending and providing SQEP input at risk reviews etc.
• Ensure supply chain delivers to meet production requirements.
• Manage design and commissioning interfaces within the project, ensuring all requirements are understood by the correct stakeholders.
• Sequence works and liaise with waste engineers to optimise waste disposal solutions.
• Ensure compliance with defined safety, environmental and security standards and procedures.
• Preparation of technical documents and reports (e.g. Project Management Plans, Pre-construction Information, Construction Phase Plans etc.).
• Preparation of safety documentation and Plant Modification Proposals for projects.
• Identification of project risks, the development of cost and schedules of works and the implementation of works.
• Review of contractor's tender documentation and plans of work.
• Liaison with Licensee, Infrastructure and Projects and Tenant oversight functions to gain approval of work and shared service aspects.
• Managing Readiness reviews and Quality Plan through Project lifecycle.
• Assist with Local Authority Planning Permission aspects.
• Preparation of documents in compliance with Project Management and Change Management processes, for example Project Initiation Documents, Project Briefs, User Requirement Specifications, Security Plans, Stakeholder Management Plan and Communication Plans.
• Assist with Project L.F.E.
• Produce monthly reports to Contracts Manager on project performance
• Chair weekly site meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions
• Support in the management of Contract Supervision resources associated with your work packages as requested by PM.
• By example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of HS&E procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligations
What do you need to be great at this role?
• Awareness of project management methodologies for managing successful projects and managing complex multi-disciplinary projects in regulated environments
• Awareness of project objectives, realisation procedures and effective communication at a business decision making level.
• Site and construction safety legislation safeguards and practice (CDM, CSCS, & NEBOSH), security protocols, health and environmental legislation and good practice
• Experience within the Nuclear industry is highly desirable
• Recognised Project Management qualification such as APM, Prince 2, PMI, Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH Construction Certificate/General Certificate, SMSTS etc.
• A good working knowledge of the requirements of the CDM 2015 Regulations, including the ability to write/review RAMS.
• Capable of recognising and producing high quality technical and project delivery documentation including functional and technical specifications and project documentation.
• Practical aptitude and willing to engage directly with front line workers and work with these groups to develop pragmatic plans for works.
