We’re looking for a Safety Case Manager (Environment). Based at our Capenhurst location you’ll provide advice to the Capenhurst businesses on the environmental requirements of safety cases. You are expected to have a detailed knowledge of the assessments within your areas of responsibility, the claims made within them and will ensure arrangements are in place to assure compliance with these. You are responsible for ensuring that environmental assessments (including Environmental Aspects and Environment Files) are delivered, implemented, adopted and maintained as required to support modifications, the requirements of our LC15 and CR10 arrangements (nuclear and COMAH) and the ISO 14001 certified management system. You are responsible for working collaboratively with the Safety Case Owner and other Safety Case Managers to maintain the health of the safety cases and understand the environmental risk profile for these areas.

What you’ll do:

• Delivers, Implements, Adopts and Maintains fit for purpose Environmental Assessments to support Capenhurst operations.?
• Design Authority Representative
• Intelligent Customer and accepter of the environmental aspects of Nuclear and COMAH Safety Cases and Periodic Reviews of Safety produced on behalf of Urenco by the supply chain.
• Acts as the Agent of the Safety Case Owner (for their appointed area(s)) for environmental justifications through the Capenhurst Safety Case Governance Process (e.g. Safety Review Group, Independent Peer Review, Independent Technical Assurance, Management of Safety & Environment Committee (MSEC) and Nuclear Safety, Security & Environment Committee (NSSEC)).
• Works collaboratively with the wider Design Authority, Project Delivery Organisation, UTD Group Projects and Safety Case Process Owners (or nominated deputies) to inform updates and revisions to the Capenhurst Safety Case Framework.
• Membership of the Capenhurst governance committees e.g. Safety Review Group, MSEC or NSSEC (as required).
• Maintaining expert knowledge of the UK Regulatory framework and the implications for UK Licensees.

What do you need to thrive in this role?

• Degree qualified in Science or Technical discipline or equivalent
• Experience in nuclear industry, COMAH or high hazard sites
• Experience in preparing or reviewing Environmental Safety Assessments
• Thorough understanding of the UK Environmental Regulatory Framework
• Possesses a detailed knowledge and understanding of how specialist disciplines input and support the development of a Nuclear Safety Case
• Experience of environmental management in a high hazard industry
• Experience in balancing risk from conflicting drivers
• Has experience of each stage of the Safety Case lifecycle and experience of Safety Cases from other Licensees. Understands the relationship between environmental and nuclear safety drivers
