We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant. As an KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with autism to achieve their educational and developmental goals. You will work closely with experienced SEN staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

An OUTSTANDING SEN School in Chester is looking for a dedicated and passionate KS2 Teaching Assistant to help support young people with autism aged in Key stage 3 whom may have additional learning difficulties and behaviours that challenge.

As an KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with autism to help them access the curriculum and engage in classroom activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students, tailoring activities and interventions to their specific needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere by promoting understanding and acceptance among students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to develop and implement effective strategies for managing challenging behaviours.
  • Assist in planning and organising sensory-friendly activities and sensory breaks.
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing observations and insights with the teaching team and parents/guardians.

As an KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will have:

  • Experience working with children with autism or in a similar SEN setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and familiarity with evidence-based interventions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
