Job Title: Transformers Engineering Consultant Location: Chester Industry: Engineering Salary: 拢60,000Work Type: Hybrid: 2-3 days on site Senior Consultant Job Overview: As a Senior Consultant, you will lead condition assessments and failure analysis of power system plants, focusing on Power Transformers and Instrument Transformers (CTs/VTs) to support reliable power networks. Collaborating with a diverse team of experts, you will perform forensic investigations on power system components, actively engaging in their disassembly and analysis.Senior Consultant Responsibilities: 路Electrical Testing: Perform high-voltage and high-current tests, working with external labs, along with benchtop testing to assess winding condition (e.g., resistance and ratio measurements).路Insulation Analysis: Analyse oil and paper insulation health for oil-filled transformers using laboratory data.路Component Inspection: Detank transformers, dismantle components, and identify signs of aging, defects, and failure paths in insulation systems.路Expert Collaboration: Collaborate with industry organisations (e.g., Universities, Cigre, IEEE, IEC/BS) to leverage technical expertise.路Technical Support: Provide guidance to team members, ensuring the sharing of best practices and driving continuous improvement.路Operational Responsibilities: Support the daily operations of the projects hall and materials lab.Senior Consultant Desired Attributes: 路Professional Registration: Working towards or already hold professional certification with a relevant institution.路Partial Discharge Expertise: Knowledge of partial discharge, DGA analysis, and their role in transformer aging and failure.路Experience: Background in transformer OEM, electrical utilities, consultancy, or power plant services is preferred.路Transformer Knowledge: Familiar with magnetic and electrical field distributions in transformers and methods to control them.路Investigation Skills: Ability to identify failure observations and determine their root causes during investigations.路Education: B.Eng (or higher) in Electrical Engineering.路Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of power systems and their operations.Company Benefits:路25 days holiday plus bank holidays 路Additional holiday day added every 3 years 路Optional buy and sell holidays 路Career development programmes 路Additional training 路Flexible working arrangements 路Bonus scheme 路Private Medical, Pension 8%, Group Life Assurance, Income Protection, Critical Illness Cover - Or cash equivalentImportant Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
