Sinclair is looking for a Group Tax Manager to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will manage direct and indirect tax compliance, oversee the group's transfer pricing arrangements, and engage in strategic tax planning across multiple jurisdictions. This position provides an excellent opportunity to influence and optimise our tax strategies while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Direct and indirect tax compliance

  • Prepare annual UK corporation tax returns in house
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly VAT returns for the UK and other European territories
  • Review tax returns prepared by third party advisors on behalf of trading subsidiaries
  • Manage engagement, ensuring timely completion and review, of overseas direct and indirect tax filings by advisors for certain overseas territories, including USA and countries within Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America
  • Strategic tax planning
  • Have responsibility for preparing an annual tax cashflow forecast including accurate estimates of timing and quantity of payments for both direct and indirect taxes
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks, working to minimise the Groups overall effective tax rate through application of applicable local tax regulations.

Transfer pricing

  • Review transfer pricing policy at least annually and/or following any significant business event with the assistance of third party advisors
  • Maintain transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with transfer pricing policy around the group

Other

  • Provide the first line in-house support for tax queries from across the group .
  • Manage relationship with HMRC and provide support for any tax inspections across the group.
  • Prepare annual statutory tax disclosures and deal with auditors on all tax-related matters. Support business development activities, including the integration of subsidiary and product acquisitions.
  • Overall shared responsibility with Supply Chain for customs and excise.

Essential:

  • Extensive experience with UK corporation tax and a solid understanding of transfer pricing concepts.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and its application to taxation for effective tax planning and compliance.
  • Experience working in an international group tax environment with strong technical tax knowledge.
  • Ability to understand complex business processes and assess the tax impact of decisions.
  • Proven capability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders, including overseas colleagues and advisors.

Desirable:

  • Experience with indirect tax.
  • Experience in an international group environment.
