We’re looking for an R&D Principal Process Engineer to be based at our Capenhurst location.

The R&D Process Development Team develop designs for new applications and processes. The Process Engineering Team provides the expertise for these designs, the development of process routes and ultimately the design of equipment.

In this role you’ll Lead internal and external resource in the delivery of process design solutions for R&D. The role has a hybrid working model, with the opportunity to work several days a week from home.

What you’ll do:

• Personally develop process designs to address technical challenges in line with codes, standards and good engineering practice.
• Solve complex problems to deliver an intrinsically safe design with minimal equipment and good operability
• Improve delivery of process engineering, ensuring the full range of operating modes are considered, process engineering documents are easy to maintain and basis of design is clear
• Participate in improving process engineering standards, ensuring process engineering deliverables are suitable for long term maintenance
• Improving quality of process engineering quality and documentation with the right input taking place at the right time – demonstrated by reduced work recycle
• Encourage a strong sense of teamwork leading to Process Engineering excellence and a collaborative approach to process engineering design.
• Ensure ehe full process hazard range is catered for as process solutions are developed (pressure, radiological, chemotoxic, environmental – not exhaustive)


What do you need to thrive in this role?

• Qualified Chemical Engineer with design, operating and ideally commissioning experience
• Broad exposure to working in a highly regulated environment on either a top tier COMAH or nuclear site
• Experience with a chemical/nuclear background
• Broad experience of process technologies and equipment.
• Significant experience of multi-disciplined team working and the parts played by the various engineering disciplines
• Extensive knowledge of design standards and change management procedures.
• Excellent grasp of process design of relief systems and overall relief philosophy
• Broad experience in specification of Control System functionality and understanding of the use of control studies
• Extensive experience in process engineering aspects of protective systems and their specification
