Security Vetting Officer - Capenhurst, Chester - 18 Month Maternity Cover

Our Client Urenco trusted, long-term supplier to the nuclear industry, specialising in safe, cost effective and reliable uranium enrichment services, are looking for a Security Vetting Officer on a contract basis (inside IR35), to be based in Capenhurst near Chester. In this contract position, the Vetting Officers are part of a team providing a personnel security service to the three Urenco companies at Capenhurst. Their main focus is to carry out security screening of employees and contractors in accordance with government standards, to maintain accurate records internally and on government databases and to manage access permissions to the main site and sensitive areas for employees, contractors and visitors. They also need to have an understanding of commercial contracts as well as stakeholder management.

What will your day look like?
• The vetting officer will ensure that systems, processes and practices are implemented, maintained and developed in accordance with best practice, policy and legislation.
• They will ensure that individuals working with and for the organisation have an acceptable level of integrity so as to guarantee that they do not pose an undue threat to the security of the organisation, or sensitive information, system assets, premises and persons.
• Implement the mandatory clearance requirements for all employees and contractors who require access to Nuclear Material (NM) sensitive areas, Sensitive Nuclear Information (SNI), Nuclear Construction Sites and other protectively marked information and valuable assets.
• The vetting officer ensures that all vetting procedures and vetting aftercare is carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements and that all security standards in regard to access to site are met and appropriate records are maintained for inspection.
• Assists with improvement activities relating to Personnel Security (Aftercare/Contract delivery/KPI’s) and implements procedures which are compliant with the Business as well as the Regulator

What do you need to be great at this role?
· Secondary education to at least 5 x GCSE grades C or above (4) to include English and Maths
· Knowledge and proven ability in clerical and administrative procedures, as well as excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to be able to deal effectively with people at all levels across social spectrum from all backgrounds.
• Proficiency in Microsoft packages
· A requirement of this post is to hold and maintain and elevated National Security clearance. It is essential that the post holder be prepared to undergo a rigorous security clearance process and to undertake any appropriate development training considered necessary to both gain and improve the level of expertise require for the post.
