Trainee Mortgage Adviser

Chester

£22,300 - £25,000 plus bonus

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone either looking to start their career in mortgages, or someone who has a degree of experience in the industry and is full/part CeMAP qualified.

The Trainee Mortgage Adviser will be trained to fully understand the core elements of the role, before moving on to advise customers on suitable mortgage products, according to their individual financial situation.

The successful Trainee Mortgage Adviser will join a well-established, motivated, friendly team in a modern, open-plan office with car parking onsite. You will be rewarded with a quarterly performance bonus; financial support to study CeMAP levels 1, 2 and 3; a holiday buy and sell scheme; and company events.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Advising on suitable mortgage products, dealing with referrals from a panel of intermediaries and leads generated from company marketing activity.
  • Completion of fact-find.
  • Carry out suitable property valuation research where applicable.
  • Analysing credit searches.
  • Providing advice and recommendations to clients, taking into account their preferences and financial circumstances.
  • Completion of compliance documentation relevant to each application.
  • Ensuring internal compliance and regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • Maintaining a bespoke mortgage management system with relevant information to each individual case.
  • Ensuring knowledge is kept fully up to date in relation to products and criteria changes.
  • Responding to client communications effectively and in a timely manner.
  • General office and administration duties.
  • Complying with FCA conduct rules

Qualifications and skills:

  • Previous experience working within the finance industry is preferred.
  • 2 A levels grade C or above OR a degree with a classification of 2:2 or above.
  • Has or is working towards CeMAP qualification, or is willing to do so.
  • A 'can-do' attitude, with an ability to think of multiple solutions/solve problems.
  • Confident with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Extremely organized and analytically minded with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Polite telephone manner and an excellent communicator
  • Self-motivated, naturally organised and able to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable working both individually and as part of a team.
  • Committed to completing tasks on time.
  • Strong aptitude for learning.
  • A strong customer focus with the desire to go the extra mile.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Hours of work:

37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday, including a minimum of two evening shifts (finishing at 7pm).
