Shift Maintenance Engineer (Near Chester)

42k - 44k plus overtime

About the Role:

Join a leading packaging design and innovation company at their foodservice packaging site near Chester. We're looking for a skilled Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our maintenance team and help keep our production machinery running smoothly.

Job Purpose:

  • Maintain and repair production machinery to high standards, ensuring minimal interruptions and breakdowns.
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance and service records.
  • Devise, fabricate, and install improvements to production machines.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned maintenance on plant and equipment.
  • Respond to production machine breakdowns.
  • Install and relocate production equipment.
  • Specify and order spare parts.
  • Complete maintenance records and required paperwork.
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Conduct mechanical and pneumatic fault finding.
  • Record daily activities and liaise with other departments.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical skills, with at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Electrical knowledge preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in a high-speed, high-pressure production environment.
  • City & Guilds qualification or equivalent.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Highly responsible, conscientious, and reliable.
  • Good communicator with a strong work ethic.
  • Flexible, able to prioritize effectively and adapt to variable workloads.
  • Punctual, presentable, and with good attendance.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments, able to manage time effectively and multitask.
  • Proactive with a can-do attitude.

Work Hours:

40 hours per week, rotating shifts including early, afternoon, and night shifts.
