We are seeking a committed and dynamic Psychology and PSHE Teacher to join our secondary school in Chester. This is an exciting opportunity to shape young minds, promote wellbeing, and foster critical thinking in a vibrant and supportive learning environment. The successful candidate will deliver Psychology at Key Stage 4 and/or 5 and lead engaging, inclusive PSHE lessons across the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in Psychology and Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education, tailored to meet a range of learners’ needs.

  • Teach Psychology at GCSE and/or A-Level, depending on experience and school need.

  • Plan and deliver PSHE across Key Stages 3 and 4 in line with statutory guidance and school policy.

  • Promote emotional wellbeing, personal development, and social responsibility among students.

  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in both academic and pastoral contexts.

  • Support whole-school initiatives related to safeguarding, RSE (Relationships & Sex Education), mental health, and citizenship.

  • Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, SENCOs, and safeguarding leads to ensure a holistic approach to student wellbeing.

  • Contribute to the development and enrichment of the PSHE and Psychology curriculum.

  • Participate in school life, including open evenings, parent consultations, and CPD.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject

  • Experience teaching Psychology and/or PSHE at secondary level

  • Knowledge of the national curriculum for PSHE and relevant safeguarding guidance

  • A passion for supporting young people’s mental, emotional, and social development

  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering A-Level Psychology

  • Up-to-date knowledge of PSHE frameworks (e.g. DfE statutory guidance, RSE curriculum)

  • Experience working with pastoral teams or in a safeguarding role

  • Ability to run wellbeing-related enrichment activities or clubs
