We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Resettlement Worker in Chester on an ongoing, temporary basis with temp to perm potential. This is a 35 hour per week role, working across 3 days (Thursday, Friday and Sunday) on a set shift pattern of 7am to 8pm.You'll be supporting your own caseload of tenants who are facing homelessness with complex needs (substance/alcohol dependency, mental health) to regain independence, build resilience and the ability to sustain a tenancy when moving on from the service.

Your new role

  • Processing admissions into the service, undertaking needs and risk assessments, and co-creating support plans with the customer with positive, achievable and motivating outcomes
  • Providing practical help and support with things such as budgeting, life skills, health care, nutrition and applying for welfare benefits & housing applications
  • Ensuring quick turnarounds of void properties to maximise income
  • Managing low level anti-social and challenging behaviours
  • Signposting customers to external agencies and support services for mental health, debt and substance/alcohol misuse
  • Encouraging customers to access and get involved with external services within the community to improve wellbeing & employment prospects
  • Attend relevant multi-agency meetings and work in partnership with housing providers, community groups & charities and Local Authority
  • Carry out routine inspections & room checks, routine fire safety checks and reporting repairs

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of supporting vulnerable customers within a social housing setting and an understanding of the principles of housing & tenancy management
  • Understanding and experience of carrying out risk/need assessments and co-producing support plans
  • Understanding and knowledge of the welfare benefits system and Property Pool Plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, IT proficiency and resilience
