Our Client, Cheshire West and Chester Council, is seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their Permanence Team.

Responsibilities of this role:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families involved with the child welfare system, including their strengths, needs, and risks, to inform permanency planning decisions.
  • Develop and implement permanency plans for children in care, including reunification with birth families, adoption, kinship care, and long-term fostering, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with children, families, caregivers, and partner agencies to develop and implement plans that promote the best interests of the child and support their emotional, physical, and developmental well-being.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to children and families throughout the permanency planning process, addressing any concerns or barriers that may arise and advocating for needed services and resources.
  • Facilitate family finding and matching processes for children awaiting adoption, ensuring that prospective adopters are carefully assessed and matched with children based on their individual needs and preferences.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for court proceedings, reviews, and other legal processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Work closely with legal representatives, guardians ad litem, and other professionals involved in the child's case to ensure effective communication and coordination of services.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to permanency planning and adoption.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Stay informed about relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in the field of child welfare and permanence, applying this knowledge to inform practice and advocacy efforts.

Requirements of this role:

  • Must be a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
  • Must have a Social Work qualification (Diploma in social work, social work degree or equivalent)
  • Must have minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Qualified social worker in a similar team
