Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Chester-based secondary school as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support their resource base. As a resource teaching assistant, you will be supporting pupils with SEN.Your new roleWithin your role as a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with SEN within the resource base. The complexity and needs of the pupils you will be supporting will vary. Typically, you will support ASD, LD, GLD and challenging behaviours. Due to this, you will be required to take a pupil-centred approach to learning as to ensure that the individual needs and emotional state of each pupil are met. You will support your new pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, offering intervention and booster sessions in core subjects and working under the instruction of the class teacher. You will also be required to implement positive behaviour strategies including the effective monitoring of triggers, de-escalation and sensory therapy.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting SEN, as well as:

  • The ability to take a pupil-centred approach to learning
  • Experience delivering positive behaviour support
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
