Key purpose of the role:
Setting out for new foundations, brickwork, retaining walls, drainage, roads and fence lines.
Recording as-built information, site surveys and constraints reviews.
Working across multiple projects around the Region.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Using designs and plans to mark out elements of the site as required.
Working as part of the technical team liaise with site teams and alongside architects, construction managers, engineers, sub-contractors, supervisors, and surveyors.
A shared responsibility for site health and safety and the organisation and supervision of our works on site.
Duties will vary depending on the type and nature of the project but typically involve:
* Acting as the technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, crafts people and operatives.
* Setting out, levelling and surveying the site.
* Completing detailed topographical surveys and formatting drawings in a clear legible way to the agreed layering system and to the relevant plotting style.
* Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculation.
* Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications.
* Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.
* Liaising with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with local construction regulations.
* Log and report any issues identified or defective works.
* Where possible, offer possible solutions and feedback to problems raised.
* Planning own work and efficiently organising the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.
* Overseeing quality control and health and safety matters on site.
* Preparing reports as required.
* Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
* Produce earthwork models and isopachyte drawings showing extent of cut/fill and associated parameters.
* Complete as built overlays and provide report comparison against original design.
Skills/Personal Specification:
* Suitable engineering degree or similar qualification in Civil/ Structural Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.
* Must have CSCS.
* Solid background as a Site / Setting Out Engineer.
* Experience with setting instruments such as robotic Total Station, other EDM and GPS.
* General computer software skills including Microsoft Office
* Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and modelling software such as lSS.
* Ability to lead, influence or advise others.
* Report preparation skills.
* Diligent and dependable.
