Position: CNC Milling Operator - Permanent Nights
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: Up to £20ph
Shifts: Permanent Nights
Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled CNC Turner Operator to set and operate CNC machinery, manufacturing products that meet engineering drawing requirements and customer expectations. The role includes maintaining shop floor controls and ensuring all procedures for monitoring and measuring equipment are followed consistently.
Responsibilities:
- Set and operate CNC Milling machines using FANUC controls.
- Collaborate with operators and inspectors to standardize inspection methods.
- Operate multiple machines in sequence and measure parts using micrometers.
- Work in a manufacturing environment, meeting production targets while checking for defects and quality issues.
- Maintain shop floor controls and measuring equipment.
- Ensure a safe working environment and suggest improvements to the direct manager.
- Communicate and reinforce the company’s commitment to quality improvement efforts.
- Comply with H&S legal requirements, policies, and procedures at all times.
- Work within the ISO9001 quality management system and meet customer-specific requirements.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering and/or equivalent or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role (desirable).
- GCSE A-D in English and Math or equivalent (desirable).
- Experienced CNC setter/operator with knowledge of FANUC controls.
- Previous experience with milling or turning machines.
- Competent in working with various materials, including stainless steels, Inconel, and other alloys.
- Experience in a precision environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Logical and methodical thinking.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on CNC machinery, preferably in a subcontract manufacturing environment. As this is a night shift position, candidates must be comfortable working independently and maintaining high standards.
