The Cook will work alongside a Chef and as part of the catering team in producing approximately 500 meals per day. The meals will mainly consist of a meat and 2 vegetable option, or a vegetarian option, as well as a weekly set menu. The successful candidate will prepare and cook meals to high standards whilst maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe department, ensuring the standard of service to is pleasant, efficient and all duties are carried out in line with the department's working procedures.Main duties of the Café Cook

  • Preparing and cooking food as per set recipes.
  • Cooking and preparing elements of high quality and diet specific dishes.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment and ensuring sanitation practices in the kitchen.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with service users, visitors, staff, and Managers.
  • Assisting other Chefs in the department.
  • Helping with deliveries and restocking of all equipment and ingredients.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary workstations.

Criteria of the Café Cook

  • Food Hygiene level 3 or willingness to work towards (assistance can be provided by GI Group).
  • Ability to cook with fresh ingredients from start to end product (set menu).
  • Relevant experience of working in the catering industry and/or experience of working in a similar type of establishment.
  • Ability to follow hygiene guidelines and adhere to health and safety policies in the kitchen.
