Group Finance Manager | Chesterfield (S41) | Up to £60k | Hybrid | FinanceAxon Moore is delighted to be working with an excellent client based in Chesterfield to appoint an Group Finance Manager. The business is going through a period of growth, and they are looking to strengthen their Finance team, bringing multiple hires in this team, so it’s an exciting time to join! We are looking for a results-driven and confident Group Financial Manager to manage and improve our organisation's financial performance and direct our accounting operations. Duties will include managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, analysing financial data, monitoring expenditure, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information. Your strategic planning and exceptional numerical proficiency will aid our organisation in maintaining positive revenue and financial growth, formulating sound financial strategies, implementing proper internal controls, achieving organisational targets, and developing financial plans that support organizational strategy. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organized, and have excellent leadership skills. The individual should streamline our accounting functions and operations, provide financial analysis and reports, train staff on business finance issues, promote regulatory compliance, and drive income generation.Key responsibilities:
  • Delivery of Group monthly/annual financial accounts in a timely manner (P&L/BS/CF), ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported.
  • Lead Group finance with clear timetables and delivery across four key trading entities.
  • Ensure all reconciliations are complete in a timely manner with key risks surfaced.
  • Provide support towards a new ERP system implementation.
  • Prepare the year-end audit file and liaise with the external auditors.
  • Preparation of all statutory/covenant financial information.
  • Preparation of Tax packs as required.
  • Streamlining accounting functions and operations. Review, assess and apply any necessary changes to the internal financial controls required to ensure that accurate accounting records are maintained at all times.
  • Identify and recommend potential operational efficiencies and improvements to working practices and procedures.
  • Proactive analysis of financial data including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Ensure VAT returns are processed and filed to an agreed timescale and be responsible for all other tax and regulatory compliance issues including preparation and submission of information to statutory authorities including HMRC.
  • Operate within our regulatory and compliance framework and take personal responsibility of Individual Conduct rules relevant to the role.
  • Ensure internal controls are robust and help manage risks including development of policies and procedures.

Professional qualification and competencies:
  • Qualified Accountant working in a Financial Manager role.
  • Strong up to date technical accounting knowledge (UKGAAP/IFRS)
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems including ability to interrogate and extract data Strong ability to implement and monitor internal controls.
  • Excellent IT skills with a specific ability to use Excel to at least an intermediate level and experienced in manipulating data.
  • Diligent with strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience of presenting data/delivering information/providing and explaining variance analysis.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic and self – motivated.
  • Pro-active approach.
  • Flexible approach and ability to adapt as the business grows and expands.
  • To be able to work on own initiative whilst encouraging others to take ownership and responsibility of tasks.
  • Clearly able to operate as a ‘self-starter’ and operate with minimal supervision whilst communicating clearly Ability to work flexible hours with the necessity to travel to different locations.
