We are looking for a Mechanical Field Service Engineer for a permanent position based with our client in Chesterfield.

Immediate Start available (Subject to the interview process)

Salary is 36,000 per annum.

Role Overview:

The Field Service Engineer role is a field-based role working as either a one or two man team on customer sites ensuring their materials handling equipment is serviced, legally compliant, fit for purpose and safe.

As a company who design, manufacture and install a multitude of materials handling solutions across many different industries, it is vital that our client maintain and manage the life of this equipment on behalf of their customers.

Mainly working with industrial vacuum lifters, the Field Service Engineer must have exceptional mechanical engineering knowledge and experience. An ability to understand and problem solve, work their way around an unknown issue, and always leave the equipment safe and compliant is key.

Experience of working with pneumatic systems an advantage. Communicating openly and clearly, precise information in good time and maintaining 100% compliance with all Health & Safety requirements is essential.

This role does have a requirement for overnight stays, primarily within the UK. There is also the potential for visits overseas to complete training at our client's parent companies location in Germany.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planned service on vacuum tube lifting systems across all industries
  • Planned installations of equipment on site
  • Breakdown service on all of the above
  • Upgrade installations and subsequent maintenance
  • Training of operators
  • Management of van stock parts, van service and maintenance schedules
  • Completing written reports in a timely manner
  • Providing feedback from site on problem issues on design and manufacture
  • Supporting each other when on site to provide input of experience
  • Assistance with offloading and loading of goods as required
  • Completion of timesheets and expenses claims
  • Management of tools on site

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (pneumatics an advantage)
  • Minimum NVQ level 3 or time-served equivalent (relevant previous experience)
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Good communication skills and customer-oriented approach

  • CCNSG Safety Passport
  • IPAF and PASMA
  • LOLER training
  • Training will be provided where required
