Elevation's Design & Projects team are working with a well-established and successful manufacturing business based in Chesterfield seeking a talented and motivated Design Engineer to join their technical engineering team. With a strong reputation for providing reliable and high-quality products and equipment, the company serves a global customer base, offering comprehensive customer support and exceptional after-sales service.

The ideal Design Engineer will have experience in designing products using various manufacturing processes, including casting, machining, and fabrication. Proficiency in creating and maintaining technical drawings is critical as well as a strong, general Mechanical Design skillset.

Design Engineer Role Overview:
  • Creating 3D CAD models, assemblies, and producing 2D drawings using Creo and AutoCAD.

  • Maintaining and updating existing product designs using official engineering change procedures.

  • Working on value engineering projects and product improvements.

  • Developing and maintaining product instruction manuals and sales literature.

  • Assisting in the preparation of contract documentation and supporting large-scale projects.

  • Contributing to the development of quality and work procedures for manufacturing.

  • Participating in client and project meetings.

  • Managing BOMs within the company’s MRP system.

  • Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, and tender documentation as part of the project team.

Design Engineer Education & Experience:
  • B.Sc./B.Eng or equivalent qualification in Engineering.

  • 3+ years’ experience in design (desirable).

  • Strong understanding of geometrical tolerances.

  • Competence in using 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as PTC Creo or SolidWorks.

  • Strong numerical and analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in BoM creation and management within a CAD package.

Design Engineer Key Skills:
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and engineering challenges.

  • Attention to detail in assessing customer and project requirements.

  • Strong written communication skills and high standards of technical documentation.

  • Confident, driven, and resourceful approach to tasks.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to prioritize workloads effectively.

  • A background in marine or mechanical engineering is advantageous but not essential.
