** Mechanical Design Engineer **

3-6-month contract / Outside IR35

Location: Sheffield / Chesterfield / Rotherham / Worksop / Alfreton / Mansfield

Gross Rate: £35.00p/h - £37.50p/h DOE

CAD – Solidworks / PDM / design / fabrication / SPM

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a key client, who are a global leading machinery manufacturer. They operate in the design, manufacture and installation of special purpose machinery into recycling & steel industries, all from their state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in South Yorkshire.

Due to an increase in business and projects, they are looking for experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on an interim basis. Initially this contract/project is for 3 months and is likely to be extended further.

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will conduct the following daily duties:

  • 3D design and modelling on Solidworks, and utilising PDM system
  • Responsible for designs & design modifications, as well as and modelling complex fabrications, castings and GA’s, in a highly technical engineering environment
  • Producing customer and manufacturing drawings, BOMs etc.
  • Tolerances, and design control, scoping calcs to prove out the designs being proposed
  • Assisting aftersales and the release process for a number of quotation designs
  • Communicate effectively with internal key stakeholders on the design from sales, engineering and procurement
  • Highlight design snagging issues immediately to Engineering Manager

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will need to have the following attributes:

  • Time served mechanical engineer or NVQ Level 3, and ideally HNC/D or Degree in Engineering
  • Skilled within mechanical fabrications, cast products and general arrangements etc
  • Ability to work autonomously from concept as well as modifications to existing designs
  • Strong mechanical, fabrication and machinery engineering background
  • 3D CAD – Solidworks and PDM proficient
  • Organised, and ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent communications skills with both colleagues and clients
  • A team player, professional and keen eye for detail
