About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Primary Teacher to join a small specialist school in Chesterfield. You will be teaching Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils who are not in mainstream education and require additional support due to a range of emotional, social, and behavioural challenges, including ADHD and ASD.

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a high staff-to-pupil ratio environment, ensuring each child receives the tailored support they need. The position will initially be on Tradewind timesheets, transitioning to a permanent school contract after a handover period.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, adapting teaching to meet individual needs.

  • Provide a nurturing and structured learning environment to support pupils with additional needs.

  • Implement behaviour management strategies to foster a positive and supportive classroom culture.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and SEN specialists to support each pupil's development.

  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting learning strategies where necessary.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.

  • Experience teaching primary-aged pupils, ideally within a specialist or SEN setting.

  • Confidence in working with children who have ADHD, ASD, and other emotional, social, and behavioural needs.

  • Strong classroom management skills and a patient, adaptable approach.

  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo vetting in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines).
