GSL Education are currently seeking an experienced English Teacher for an exciting opportunity at a school in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of engaging students, fostering a love of English and ensuring that every student reaches their full potential. About the Role:

As an English Teacher at this school, you will have the opportunity to teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering high-quality lessons that motivate and inspire students. Your role will be to instil a passion for literature, language and writing, ensuring that students develop the skills they need to succeed academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Develop and implement schemes of work and lesson plans that meet the needs of a diverse student body, including students with special educational needs.
  • Assess, track and report on student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to help students improve.
  • Foster a love of literature and language, encouraging students to engage critically with texts and develop their writing skills.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management, ensuring that students are engaged and focused during lessons.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, adapting your teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the English department and other areas of the school to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Participate in school events, staff meetings and professional development opportunities to continually improve your teaching practice.

English Teacher requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a must.
  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a secondary school setting, ideally within the last two years.
  • A genuine passion for the subject, with the ability to inspire students and foster a love of literature and writing.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with students, staff and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic and proactive approach to working with young people.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
