The organisation

In this Housing Support Worker opportunity in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, you will join a charity organisation helping Young People live in temporary accommodation whilst supporting them with independent living skills.

Key responsibilities

In this Housing Support Worker job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Support and assist young people in developing the skills required to build resilience, overcome barriers and advocate for themselves, to enable them to move on into permanent housing, integrate into communities and maintain their independence in line with their specific needs.
  • Develop, promote and deliver direct, planned and structured one to one activities and group sessions co-designed with our Young People in line with support and co production plans.
  • Adopt a person centred and trauma informed approach to build trust with our Young People and develop tailored support plans in line with our Statement of Purpose and OFSTED regulations.
  • Act as first point of contact and coordinate caseload engaging where appropriate colleagues, third-party agencies and housing support to facilitate the move on of our young people into their own accommodation in line with support plan and their specific needs.
  • Carry out entry/exit tasks, safety and welfare checks, and respond to emergencies and crises that arise within service hours in accordance with policy and procedure.
Skills & experience of a Housing Support Worker
  • Proven track record of working In supported housing - up to date knowledge of housing legislation Is required
  • Willing to travel across the Chesterfield, Derbyshire area - care driver Is not essential but highly desired
  • Desirable If have experience of working in Supported Accommodation
  • DBS on the update service - needs to be an enhanced child and adult cleared.
  • Ready to start asap
  • Work 5 days over 7 shift pattern
