GSL Education are delighted to offer an opportunity for a dedicated Personal Social Development (PSD) Teacher to work with secondary students in a dynamic school in Chesterfield, guiding them through essential life skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities of the PSD Teacher:  

  • Deliver engaging and meaningful PSD lessons covering topics such as mental health, relationships, communication, and personal growth.
  • Support students in developing confidence, independence, and emotional resilience.
  • Work with students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to provide personalised support.
  • Implement strategies to help students manage emotions, behaviour, and social interactions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to create tailored support plans.
  • Encourage students to develop essential life skills that will help them beyond the classroom.
  • Travel between school locations if required (driver essential).

Requirements of the PSD Teacher:

  • Experience teaching PSD, PSHE, or a related subject (formal teaching qualifications desirable but not essential).
  • A compassionate, patient, and motivational approach to working with young people.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Understanding of mental health, well-being, and personal development strategies for students.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (essential for travel between sites).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
