Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA) - 1:1 Support

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA) to provide one-to-one support for a child in Year 1 with additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is based in a school in Chesterfield and is a fixed-term position until July 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child in Year 1, adapting learning materials and activities to meet their individual needs.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to implement strategies that support the child's learning and development.
  • Use a calm and patient approach to create a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record the child's progress, adapting support as needed.
  • Assist with daily routines, social interactions, and behaviour management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with ASD.
  • A calm, supportive, and empathetic approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the child's learning style and needs.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A Team Teach qualification would be a significant advantage.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is not necessary to apply for this role.
