We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services, for a peripatetic Speech and Language Therapist to join the established teams across 3 independent mental health hospitals.

This role as Speech and Language Therapist will provide a service to three Hospitals in

Chesterfield a 12 bedded low secure unit for adult Males with a Primary diagnosis of Learning Disabilities who have additional complex care needs

Leeds a 21-bedded locked rehabilitation and recovery service suitable for males aged 18 years and over. We provide recovery and rehabilitation services to males with mental health needs, developmental needs, personality disorders, Autism and comorbidities.

York a 13 bedded registered independent hospital, supporting males with severe and enduring mental health conditions, learning disabilities

These hospitals focus on active rehabilitation and recovery for those with mental illnesses and personality disorders. We believe that anyone with a mental health condition should be given the best chance possible to lead a happy and fulfilling life, and our aim is to provide individuals with the confidence and skills to move or return to the community.

We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, highly skilled and person focused. We would prefer experience in working with mental health, developmental disability, Autism and co-morbidity; however we will consider applicants with the passion and desire to grow; and to think outside the box.

Our client has a strong focus on the provision of evidence based therapies that focus on enabling people to live their lives. Their aim is to deliver rehabilitation, stabilise mental health, reduce the behaviours that challenge, develop daily living skills and actively maintain working relationships with case managers and community teams, to enable a smooth and successful transition to life outside the hospital environment.

We have a strong focus on the provision of evidence based therapies that focus on enabling people to live their lives.

This is a full time permanent post and offers a competitive salary of £42,000 per anum plus

Responsibilities

To manage and co-ordinate the implementation of individual treatment plans for speech and language therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.

To receive and respond promptly to referrals undertaking assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs, before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions on an individual or group basis.

To maintains accurate and timely records, detailing each patient’s rehabilitation / progression.

To ensure the effective and efficient management of themselves.

To maintain and develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice is in line with policies, procedures and professional codes.

To comply with statutory regulations and quality standards.

To contribute to business growth by actively promoting our clients therapy services in line with the local business plans.

To maintains effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers, and commissioners and other external professionals, as necessary, throughout the patient’s recovery and rehabilitation.
