We Do Group are delighted to be supporting a family-owned group of businesses in Chichester, recruiting a part-time Financial Controller (32 hours p/w) for the group parent company with a turnover of £50m.

The role has a technical & reporting focus. We are looking for someone who has a strong technical foundation, who has ideally operated in an owner-managed business and enjoys going out and meeting the variety of businesses to understand the bigger picture.

There is an element of personal tax work and the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their involvement either on a large or small scale.

The Role

Group Company

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including cashflow
  • Quarterly intercompany reconciliations and intercompany recharges - interest, management charges, compliance
  • Payroll compliance
  • Statutory accounts preparation
  • Manage and co-ordinate the year-end Audit
  • Corporation Tax return (alongside outsourced corporate tax advisors)
  • Preparation of annual budget
  • Company secretarial
  • Bank Covenant Reporting preparation
  • Monthly VAT group reporting, returns, distribution of intercompany funds
  • Support FD in wider tax planning and strategy
  • Support FD in Family Office Quarterly Finance reporting requirements

Owner - Limited Company

  • Directors Loan position
  • Statutory accounts preparation
  • Personal Tax return and relief calculations (alongside outsourced personal tax advisors)
  • Support FD in wider tax planning and strategy

Owner - Personal

  • Monthly drawings reporting
  • Aid spend analysis to further Owner's understanding of personal budgets and spend
  • Education Trust accounts and trust tax returns
  • Pension Fund performance reporting

General

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Provide recommendations and challenge to enhance financial performance of the portfolio
  • Ensure that effective, internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with all statutory obligations
  • Deliver high quality understandable information for Business leadership as required
  • Ad hoc projects as required

Your Profile

  • Qualified Accountant - ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA
  • Effective communicator - written & verbal
  • Technical accounting background
  • Worked in an owner managed business (advantageous)
  • Inquisitive by nature
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel
