Salary: £30,296 to £33,024 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location: County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ (flexible and hybrid working)

Interview Date: Thursday 28 November

The role will offer hybrid working arrangements where there will be opportunities to work from home. You will be predominately based onsite at schools across West Sussex. You will be required to work from County Hall Chichester at least 1 day per week. Final arrangements to be confirmed with the successful candidate.

You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.

The Opportunity

As a Caretaking and Premises Support Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering a customer-focused service that genuinely makes a difference.

You will support schools in maintaining their sites and premises including playgrounds and grounds and offer valuable advice and guidance on premises-related issues, including crucial statutory compliance and maintenance.

On a day-to-day basis, you can look forward to:

  • Tackling a verity of meaningful tasks including quality assurance inspections, conducting operational inspections of equipment and matters, and supporting the recruitment and selection of dedicated premises staff.
  • Passionately providing professional advice to stakeholders engaging with the Facilities Management (FM) Services for Schools Helpdesk.
  • Diligently follow procedures and processes to respond independently to everyday telephone, email, and written queries, using your initiative to resolve unexpected challenges when they arise.

About You

We are looking for a dedicated professional who is adaptable in their approach and passionately advocates for the needs of the customer, finding comfort in evolving their methods to best support the entire Facilities Management operation.

The successful candidate will thrive in working on their own initiative, skilfully managing their diary and commitments in collaboration with both your customers and the Facilities Management Services for Schools team.

With previous experience of working in a customer service role, you will welcome continuous change and keenly identify opportunities to enhance the process for both FM and our customers.

Using a customer focussed approach, you will be able to build excellent working relationships with your stakeholders both within and outside of FM, adopting a "one team" approach to our customers.
