Overview

Hygiene Department Manager | Up to £32,470 base salary | Annual bonus | Selsey

As a key member of the team, you will report to the Hygiene Manager and take charge of leading and managing the Hygiene team during your shift. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the completion of scheduled and planned cleaning tasks, handling impromptu cleans, and conducting hygiene audits to maintain the highest standards.

We operate a rotational shift pattern covering 7 to 7 covering days and nights. You will work a total of 14 days over a 28-day period. Typically, you would be working as follows: Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & SundayWeek 2 - Wednesday & Thursday

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead teams effectively, drawing on proven supervisory experience
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with auditors and cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and senior management
  • Work autonomously and excel in high-pressure situations, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently
  • Apply a strong understanding of food manufacturing processes, especially within high-care environments, to maintain operational excellence
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety procedures, promoting a safe and hygienic work environment in line with company policies
  • Monitor and analyse KPIs, driving continuous improvement and achieving superior performance results.

Experience/skills required

  • Hold a Food Hygiene Level 2 certification or equivalent
  • Ability to foster a results-driven, collaborative work environment
  • Extensive knowledge of food safety practices
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of microbiology and the ability to interpret results
  • Preferably experienced in chemical awareness training
  • Operational and commercial awareness
  • Resilient and effective under pressure
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and scheduling procedures
