Job Title: Year 2 Teaching Assistant (Behaviour Management Specialist)
Location: Chichester, UK
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time Only

We are working on behalf of a thriving primary school in Chichester to recruit a dedicated and proactive Year 5 Teaching Assistant . The ideal candidate will have strong behaviour management skills and be ready to support a lively classroom environment where additional guidance is needed to maintain a positive and productive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide in-class support for the Year 5 teacher, ensuring all students remain engaged with their learning.
  • Use effective behaviour management techniques to manage and reduce disruptive behaviour in the classroom.
  • Implement and maintain individual behaviour plans for students where needed, working closely with the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Promote positive behaviours and encourage emotional and social development.
  • Build strong relationships with the students, creating a structured and consistent learning environment.
  • Assist in creating a stimulating, engaging, and safe classroom for all pupils.
  • Support small group interventions to help students who require additional focus on behaviour or learning.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in a similar role with a strong focus on behaviour management, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and applying de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • A calm, assertive, and patient approach, with a natural ability to relate to young children.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies as needed.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to ensuring student wellbeing.
  • A clean and current DBS on the update service, or a willingness to obtain one.
