Our client, a leading utility service provider in the water sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Technician to join their team in Chichester, working across sites in Hampshire and West Sussex.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dismantling all types of mechanical equipment, such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and screens
- Inspecting dismantled components, including taking tolerance measurements and assessing repair methods
- Fault finding on equipment such as pumps and gearboxes, using specialist equipment provided
- Repairing and refurbishing mechanical equipment under the instruction of the Operations Manager
- Working on Water Utility, Power Industry, Food, Paper, Petroleum, and Government sites as part of a mechanical & electrical team
- Removing and installing mechanical equipment onsite, including working at height, within confined spaces, and in sewerage and potable water environments
- Adhering to onsite health and safety requirements to ensure compliance with policies and procedures for quality (ISO 9001), the environment (ISO 14001), and health & safety (ISO 45001)
Job Requirements:
- Experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in dismantling, inspecting, and repairing equipment such as pumps, motors, and gearboxes
- Understanding of onsite health and safety rules and regulations
- Full UK driving licence
- Confined space training or a good understanding of confined spaces (training can be provided)
- Water hygiene training or a good understanding of sewerage/clean water hygiene (training can be provided)
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team
