A Council is seeking an experienced Structures Engineer to join theirHighways Structures Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering vital highway infrastructure projects, ensuring the safety and longevity of structures across the county.
About the Role As a Structures Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of structural highway schemes, from minor repairs to full-scale bridge refurbishments and replacements. This includes:
- Managing projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to council policies and engineering best practices.
- Acting as the lead engineer, liaising with internal clients to assess scheme suitability for the forward programme.
- Providing technical expertise and guidance on highway structures-related issues.
- Overseeing consultants and contractors, ensuring smooth project delivery within budget and timescales.
- Managing consultation and stakeholder engagement, ensuring effective communication throughout project lifecycles.
- Administering contracts and managing framework contractors effectively.
- Conducting site visits and investigative works, including survey supervision, to assess structural conditions and project requirements.
- Qualifications: BTEC HNC, Degree, Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer, or a relevant postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in highways structures project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, highway regulations, and safety standards.
- Experience in managing consultants, stakeholders, and contractors.
