West Sussex Council are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join a well-structured and dynamic team in Chichester. The client offers a full-time contract with an opportunity to work from home, a fair and manageable caseload and further training in your portfolio. The vacancy will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for extension.

Main Duties for the Occupational Therapist includes.

  • Assessment of service users and carers with complex needs in relation to home environment
  • Working as an Occupational Therapist in the Countywide review team, your role will involve working with adults from 18 years and upwards with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and chronic health conditions.
  • The focus is to complete a thorough strengths-based review, but tasks will also include mental capacity act assessments and Continuing Health Care checklists and decision support tools.
  • You will work as part of a strong and dynamic reviewing service.
  • You will be expected to contribute to strengths-based assessments utilizing Occupational Therapy skills and knowledge to develop and implement a plan of support, aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes.
  • The plan may include advice, information, the provision of assistive equipment and recommendations for home adaptation.
  • You'll be expected to use up to date evidence-based practice to inform your intervention and where appropriate carry out risk assessments and undertake assessments under the appropriate adults' legislation.
  • There will be a requirement to contribute to Continuing Health Care assessments, utilising specialist knowledge to input into this Multi-Disciplinary assessment.
  • Working along side the Team Manager. Visits to residents homes will be required. To ensure collaboration with our partner agencies.
  • Understand and demonstrate the council's values and behaviours, working collaboratively with colleagues, attending meetings and proactively contributing and problem solving.

To Be Successful.

  • Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the community.
  • Experienced Adult Social Care OT required with minimum of 2 years' experience.
  • Previous experience working with major adaptations.
  • Manual handling experience.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Occupational Therapist Qualification.
